How come we dont have a National Meet
Discussion
All,
Very happy to hear the the Chim's are talking about a national meeting.
I would suggest a small team (4) to organise it - batting around ideas on PH is great but at some point decisions must be made and forums / committees just don't do that.
As for who should lead it - I would suggest people who have successfully organised events before, who don't mind being involved and contactable and who are not afraid to made decisions.
First big decision is where : I would suggest 'central'
When : well Summer is obvious but normally best to wait for all the big events to decide on a date (if the TVR CC is going to have a big event ?) ..
Format : one or two day, free or charge, static (kicking tyres) or track, something or the ladies or not, side attractions
Lastly - a decent event name : The Chimps Tea Party just sounds a bit noncy to me and a bit of a joke.
Lets be serious here : The Chimaera is the most popular and underrated TVR ever made and due to over supply is probably the best bargain TVR at the moment : dare I say it "The Weapon of Choice" - so it's deserves a better event name.. come on

Alternatively, get a feeling of where the "definites" are located and go for there.
A decent sized hotel nearby is a must.

Just a 'head's up' for anyone proposing to organise what I'm sure would be a great event.
WORLD CUP - GERMANY 2006 - June through to the final on July 9th. Could have an impact on numbers attending if it clashes with a key England match on a Saturday/Sunday (or Dutch or French if our foreign legion were planning a trip over). Sad but true.
Dates will become clear after the draw on 9 December.
Agree with Rev, good to hear this is gonna happen
My advice - DO NOT charge entrance - keep any expenses to a minimum.
If you don't charge then people can't really complain.
Take full advantage of the generosity of traders( but let me at them first for the WedgeFest prizes
)
Finally if it rains, there's always the bar
Good luck enjoy the build up and have a great event
PS. and listen to Bugsy, he knows how to have fun.

Well IF there are no plans as of yet would anyone be interested in an event along the same lines as the BBWF and Griff Growl as copying the format of these two for the first one will make the organisation a lot easier.
I will contact Ettington Chase Hotel to see if they have any dates for September or the beginning of October to see if this is feasible.
The location of Ettington Chase is
Banbury Road,,
Ettington,
Stratford-upon-Avon,
Warwickshire CV37 7NZ

For those who haven’t been to BBWF :
The format of the BBWF involves an event on a Saturday with people meeting up locally at various meeting points and driving in convoy to the venue (this was great fun last year, the faces of the bystanders in the small villages we drove through were a picture).
The Hotel itself has a very large car park and bar area where people get a chance to put faces to PH nicknames over a pint or few and there was an area for supplier / trade stalls.
Various events can be arranged throughout the day like BBWF, but first things first, would anyone be interested in principle to this bearing in mind there is no motorsport and NO GOLF!!
The Hotel rooms for the other 2 events have been negotiated at £60 for a double, £50 for a single, this is per room per night and includes breakfast.
Theres no obligation to stay at the hotel but most people choose to stay for the Saturday night, some arriving on the Friday, some staying in other local B&B’s or Campsites some just turning up for the day.
There was a BBQ put on by the Hotel at £10 a head for all those wishing food and a raffle organised with some great prizes supplied by the trade suppliers at the event with the proceeds going to Charity.
For BBWF optional Polo shirts were made up and purchased by most attendees (for £14) which include the event name your PH nickname, your actual name and the car you drive, making it easier to identify people.
Of course like BBWF this would be a free entry event open to everyone with no obligation to stay at the hotel or buy anything, with many wifes and girlfriends also in attendance.
I’d be happy to get the ball rolling IF there is any interest, IF there are any dates available at Ettington Chase for this year and IF I can get some other mugs to organise this with me…
PS. If anyone wants to organise this with me please email me.
So what do you think???

Great to see this get of fthe ground and someone actually take reposnibility and do something. The pre 1980's meet is also on that day at the Crich Tramway Museum, near Matlock Derbyshire.
Combined event maybe?
Good luck with it all.
The Warks/West Mids region meet is that day so we'll probably have a split camp.

Yes the event is to go ahead, Sunday August 20th
Details in April Sprint. It's a Staffordshire location. Don't want to give to much more away, just thought I should let you know things are happening.
Bob - if the location and date is arranged : why the need for secrecy..
Events work because people want to go to them .. if they are to go to them then they need to know the details and plan their summer calendar..
Come on - just excite people with the details that you have.
Good point. I didn't want to steal Sprint thunder but you are right.
The event is at Sandon Hall near Stafford. The usual array of trade stands and I hope to encourage a local dealer. Awards and the like for well presented cars. It's open to all TVRCC members no matter what they drive. Non-members are welcome but we have to deal with liability issues.
