I have a car that I SORNed last year following an accident. The car was written off as far as I know, but I still have the logbook and what is left of the vehicle.
I didn't receive a Tax reminder, and knew that it was due around this time of year.
I checked the documents, and the Sorn ran out in April of this year.

Am I best declaring Sorn now ( I was going to do so online, but there is a message that suggests I may be "reminding" DVLA of the gap in licence).
Does a written off car even need a SORN?

Thanks

OP, was there an insurance claim? The insurance company normally ask for the V5C when a car is a total loss. Did you receive a payout? If so, on what terms?
Yes, I claimed for the car as was not at fault and got a payment for the vehicle. What do you mean about terms? I asked to keep the car, and they let me keep it for free. Was never asked for the V5c. I sorned the car straight away for the tax rebate. I never recieved any paperwork of details of the car though (about it getting written off etc)

So am I best declaring a new SORN on it now and risk being fined for the gap in status?
Or ask them why I haven't received confirmation of the SORN I declared in April?
