Accident - Who's affected
Discussion
Quick explanation - I'm a named driver on my Mums car. While driving the car I had an accident I admit was my fault.
The Third party claimed for the repair of his vehicle against my insurer.
I had his insurance call up and ask what happened etc.
Bit clueless here, but who does the accident affect in terms of insurance?
My Mum is the policy holder, but I were driving/at fault.
Will the claim be against my mum as policy holder, or me as the driver?
I ask because I'm soon to be going onto my own insurance policy on my own car, and I'm unsure on whether I have to add a claim or not.
Thanks,
Luke

"I had the accident, but it was my GF's policy so she made the claim".
You say your girlfriend made the claim? This is where I'm unsure, as I didn't claim to have the car fixed. It was the third party who made a claim, so I was questioning who the claim is against.
I think as you say, calling to explain will be my best bet.
Thank you,
Luke

This.
My understanding is that you're both going to need to declare at renewal.
And you'd be right. It's simple and the OP has been advised this by most if not all so far. I guess he keeps asking hoping for that one person who says "don't worry you don't have to declare it" My understanding is that you're both going to need to declare at renewal.
Thanks all for the response. I'll bite the bullet and cry come renewal
