SORRY!
Sure it has been done to death, but on the search bar i could only find stuff from 2009.
So the boys girlfriend has just turned up in her car, and was driving in her flip flops.
I've always thought this was illegal, (and unsafe) am i right?

Did you seriously take the time out of your life to post such nonsense?
Yes i did.
I thought it was illegal but wasn't 100%, so wanted to double check and couldn't think of a better place for a quick, sensible answer. Its the joy of PH. Ok you have to put up with the odd stupid idiotic reply, but hey ho.

Thanks to those who posted sensible informative replies though.

I get in the car in flip flops then take them off and push them under the seat and drive barefoot. Its an alien feeling when you first try it but it quickly becomes normal.
This.

In fact it quickly gets to be the case that you feel in far greater control when driving barefoot.
We spend alot of time all over Europe in the summer and many of the other truck drivers do the same in regards to barefoot, flip flops or similar in the hottest places.
I cant get comfy in them, so just stick with trainers whilst driving.

Initial reaction to this was Nick Clegg??? And thread should be in the NPE section but it is about footwear...
If you're a mod, please feel free to move it.
Considering i wanted to know the legality of something i thought this would be the correct place to post the question, as opposed to the NPE section.

Of course it's illegal, are you not familiar with the Highways (wearing of flip flops) Act 1997?

Come on OP, have a little think about it. How the fk are the police supposed to enforce this? Do you imagine that they're issued with x-ray specs at Police School?

Simon.
Really.
Here is a made up scenario then.
Imagine a car is involved with a r.t.a with a bike. Sadly the cyclist dies, the car driver is unhurt. The police on arrival at the scene happen to notice that said car driver is wearing flip flops, and after a quick, (or thorough as it's a fatal) search of the car proves there is no other footwear present, meaning that the car driver was either wearing their flip flops, or driving barefoot. Due to the severity of the incident would this not be of interest to the police who have to investigate the fatal?

Sadly, no i don't know the highway code insides out.
This was a question i wanted to know, "the correct legal" answer to, hence the OP, and in the speed, plod and law section.

xray specs, nah rolleyes
But they do use big wagons these days to both observe truck drivers at eye level, and cars etc below, hth.
