Daughter going to Uni, insurance choices...

Two questions that I would appreciate any advice on.

1. My eldest is leaving to go to Uni in a few weeks time. It looks like the cover on our home insurance will not stretch to cover her whilst she is away. She will have the usual laptop, phone and personal stuff with her whilst in Halls. Any recommendations for insurance?

2. Secondly we have her insured on my wife's car. Renewal is due and looks like £650 pa with her included, against £150pa without her. After spending 30 minutes on hold I have given up and hope someone on here could indicate a likely 'daily rate' for adding her when she comes home. She may well only need to drive for 10 or so days a year, and £500 seems a lot to pay.

Thanks for the above, will try a search for a company that offers cover as you describe re when she is at home. Good advice re Endsleigh as well.
