Hi - Ph advice needed please (yes have already bought sausages and hammer):

Bought used car from 200 odd miles away from home, with warranty. Small problem appeared which is defo covered by t&c of warranty. Dealer seems ok about it and is talking to his mechanics. I have given him quotes from 2 local garages to me and asked if he would like me to use anyone in particular (declined). He talks as if there is going to be a compromise of some sort..... There isn't but I want to know what he suggests.

I suspect his is going to tell me that he can get it fixed by someone he knows for £x. My quote if for 2 x £x. I either drive 400 miles to get it fixed foc by him or he will pay x to my local garage (obviously leaving me to pay diff).

Warranty says 'we undertake to contribute to the total retail cost of rectification (including parts and labour)'. no mention of own garages, distance etc (its just a signed photocopied warranty from elsewhere with some extra notes on it)

What are my rights / options ?
ta

Well - he didn't write it up. He photocopied one from somewhere else, added a few notes (such as adding air-con to the exclusions), stamped it with his garage name, filled my car details and we both signed it.

Its says 'Specific Warranty' on it and states my stat rights are unaffected.

I was in the area anyway and the car was the right one, just what I was looking for. I didn't travel to save money !
Its his warranty.
I guess my worry is that because he must be fairly confident that he isn't going to have to actually do the work, he can come up with a cost for the job that isn't based in reality - and offer that. Which ends up with me having to pay for work that is covered under the warranty.

yes - I knew it was a risk and im happy with the car. Just wanted the views of a load of random car people. As I said he is being ok about it.
