I was driving from France to Geneva in July (in a rental car) and I seem to have been caught doing 137 km/h in a 100 km/h limit judging from the letter I've got here, which has been passed on to me from the rental company.

It's all in French and my translating skills are limited, but it seems to be the equivalent of a NIP as I can't see any mention of a fine amount.

What are my options and the potential outcome(s)?

I don't think this is going to be a simple or small fine going from other threads I've read today!

I'm bracing myself for a big fine but I don't want to do anything hasty until I've done more research.

From what I'm seeing, the fine is looking like it could be 10x my daily income + admin fees...

Yes, I read that thread, but it was from a little while ago.
Seems that some pay because they are worried about what happens if they re-enter the country at a later date but some don't, thinking they won't be chased and understanding they might want to keep clear of that country from now on.

If you intend on going back to Switzerland any time I would pay up.

They don't forget and will pursue you. At least they did pursue me and as I have to go there regularly I paid up.
So are you saying you ignored it initially, but they chased and so later you decided it was best to pay then?
