I'm getting sick of them messing in my garden. Local owners take exception to my dog chasing them out. What's the position if I place hunane cat traps in my garden and move the"pets" ,which are allowed to run freely in gardens ,to a better life in a farm .

Nice to see some cat owners seeing things from my POV. My front garden is slabbed ,with the remainder covered in gravel .It was originally in wood bark till cats decided this was a good crapping place. Few years ago ,I decided that my old banger was ready for it's last trip and sat in the front for a few days. I'd been under to have a look at front brakes etc, with no problems. At that time scrappies were charging to take away ,so it went to a couple of lads for banger racing. Taking it away it stunk of tom cat pee. My sister lives in Kent and all provide a litter tray for their moggies. Result- no cat problems. Seems that where cat owners show decent respect for others, there's no problem. Then there's the old scare tactic against dogs- Toxicaris. Most decent dog owners worm and flea treat their dogs. So there's no chance of worms/eggs in their poo. How many cats get this ,and the risk if Toxicaris is equal from cat muck, buried in the soil ( but then the old ladies in Town Hall don't want us to know that ,do they ?)

What is to stop you, you ask.

The Theft Act for a start.
Nice ,one, but for that to apply, the cat has to be "owned", and when you ask about cat fouling ,the answer is always "it's not an owned pet, but a wild animal". To me it seems cat owners want it both ways- to have a pet and not be responsible for it's actions. I keep on getting told "it's up to you to keep it out ,or deter it ", but when I do it humanely with a jug of water, the owner turns into a feral animal .One in question I don't want using my garden is a she ,which I note is attracting a lot of tom cat attention at her house one reason I don't want it pee ing in my garden ,as this will attract a lot of fully active Toms who'se pee stinks. I could just let my speyed /chipped / tagged /inoculated and wormed little terrier out , but there's a slim chance that she might get hurt, and a greater chance that she might defend herself and hurt another animal, as she has 500 years of vermin prevention built in. That is also something I don't want, as the only winner is the vet. So cat owners ,DECIDE- is it a pet, you own /look after/feed and home, or a wild animal . You can no longer have it both ways.
