Old Italian parking ticket
Discussion
I've just got an email from an Italian car hire company alleging I owe about 45 euros for a parking ticket dated May 2010. They've never chased before and I have no record of this. I'd say it was a scam but I definitely hired the car. Things is, they can't debit my card as I no longer have it. Anyone else experienced a scam/delay like this?

Only four years, blimey they've really speeded up.
They are Italian after all! I got a ticket at Lake Como in 2010 as I overran the parking time. It was a bright green Lamborghini but the traffic warden put Ferrari on the ticket! I thought this ironic in Italy of all places. I could start a thread on the validity of the ticket as car make was incorrect!!!iandc said:

I was staying at Lake Como! When we were in the hotel we parked as instructed by the manager.

I ignored mine as they had no means of tracing me other than car reg. I assumed the Italians would not bother chasing me for a parking ticket and so far so good. Great scenary and driving roads BTW!!Anyway, what's the perceived wisdom on these old tickets - ask for more info, pay, ignore or something else?
Ignore it. Years ago I went to Sweden for the pre-season tour with my (then-premiership) football team and stayed in a hotel in a lovely place called Lysekils. I parked the hire car outside the hotel and when we came out to go to the match it had a ticket on it. Somewhat the worse for wear I took it off and stuck it to the car next to mine (which I knew was also a hire car of a fellow fan). (Apparently we should have parked in the marked spaces, but since all the signs were in Swedish...)
Two years later I got a demand for amount in Kroner that was about £60! I ignored it. Six months after that I got another one. Since I was about to move house, I ignored that as well and have never heard anything since.
