So I recently bought an RX8 for a bit of fun. I'm thinking the front number plate spoils the look of the car. I'm thinking of getting a stick on vinyl plate and attaching it to the front bumper left hand side.

I'm guessing that is not 100% legal. Not totally sure why though. Just wondered if I'm actually likely to get pulled for it, if its in the correct font and spacing etc.

Let me elaborate further for you dear.
>I'm considering doing something I know is illegal because it will make my car look cool and yolo swag jdm as f**k
>will I be in trouble for doing something illegal?

"it looks cool" should never be the reason for anything ever.
Miserable get.
smile

Sorry to have upset scarble's sensibilities to the point of sarcasm. At least I think it's sarcasm because I have no idea what 'and yolo swag jdm as f**k' is about.

IF the vinyl backing is retro-reflective (which is possible to get)

IF the font/spacing/size is correct

IF it is marked with the BE EN number and manufacturer details

IF it it located appropriately on the vehicle conforming to the Display Of Registration Marks

Then there is no reason a stick-on plate cannot be used legally.

Thanks for the link. Plates ordered.
All in the name of better engine cooling efficiency and weight saving. wink

That's better hehe
To be fair, there's a Mk1 MX-5 on my street and whenever I turn into the road (if it's facing the right way) I think how awful it looks, so certainly some cars can benefit from it. I think the angle of it is one of the factors they're a bit stricter on. I can't really imagine how it is on an RX-8 though, have never thought the plate looked awkward on them......................

Furthermore if you have to ask if something will get you into trouble before you do it? Not cool.
Sorry OP.
Indeed that is much better. You make so much more sense when you reply with words of wisdom instead of acronyms and sarcasm. However I'm afraid you assumed way too much from my original post, which simply concerned the legalities and consequences of vinyl plates.
PH is definitely not a place I would ever seek style or coolness advice from. smile
