We have some work going on outside my parents house laying gas or water main. Earlier I just happened to be in and looked outside my window to see two contractors in hi-vis jackets lifting pillar tops of a front wall up and putting them back.

It was obvious that the guy in the digger had swung around and given the 4ft wall a whack with the bucket. The wall has a big zigzag crack running top to bottom and the right side has been separated so much it is bowed.

By the time I got outside to ask what happened the two culprits had deserted and two others in a hole denied all knowledge. I ask who was in charge and as expected he was on his lunch so pointed me in the direction of some other mute gorilla who just shrugged and walked off.

One of them said something like 'don't worry we will fix it for you'. Now i'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt. But because they initially intended to prop it back up and walk off. Which with little force could have fallen onto a passing child i'm somewhat doubtful.

The wall is bowed and cracked it is impossible for it be put back without taking the bricks out and building it from scratch.

Basically is it unreasonable to ask for a new wall to be built given the company in question are making millions from this contract.

Also is it worth me going to the top as the company HQ is about 3 miles away or do i just let these gorillas do what they have promised and hope they do it properly and don't attempt to patch it up and leave it like a dogs dinner. What is to stop them claiming the wall was like that before they started work.

Is this a small local firm or larger UK contractor?
Large contractor, won't name names but they did the Edinburgh Tram system so not small fry.

To demolish a wall then attempt to fix it and walk off. Then when confronted deny all knowledge is definitely the actions of a gorilla
