I am getting a new (to me) vehicle

They will be delivering it to my home on Monday next, the 29 September.

It is taxed from 1 October.

Would the team take it for a drive before Wednesday at 00:00:01 hrs?

Is it SORN beforehand?
It's from a main dealer so it guess it's "in trade"

It can sit on my drive and I'll just polish it. Don't want a fine. It's cash that should be spent of fuel for 400 thirsty hp

Update...

Seems the vehicle is taxed until end of Feb 2015. Salesman only found out when paperwork arrived with service books, etc.
He said they'd let me have it FOC. How kind.

As to being parsimonious with cash. The VED is £500 so it's almost £42 for two days.
It's not really the money though. It's giving it to the Government that sticks in my craw.
