I had two of my tyres stabbed in the sidewalls last night. Two questions: Can they be repaired (they are very new) and secondly, should I report this to the police?

I'm the Pastor of an evangelical church and there have been a few incidents of minor vandalism recently, two padlocks being glued and now this. We are in inner city London so it may be a co-incidence but I'm getting suspicious now.

Sigh.

Anyhoo, the MX-5 now has a pair of new Kumhos, to replace the once which were only three weeks old anyway. Bumped into some police officers and told them all about my tale of woe, just in case this sort of thing becomes a recurring theme. Twenty years ago the church was a mess because of constant vandalism. Stones and bricks and worse through the windows every week. Even had some kids riding a motorbike up and down the aisle once. I might email the local free paper and ask them if they want a scoop about a double-stabbing hate crime.

See you all at the Goodwood Revival next year, I'll be the one in the dog collar.

Much as I trust and respect the collective PH wisdom I did have a little additional google and from what I could tell the consensus is that it is actually illegal to repair tyres with sidewall damage.

It's happened again. All four tyres on our family car, a VW Caravelle done last night while we were in the evening service.

All the other vehicles in the car park were left alone. I've informed the police.

Several people told me after the evening service that they heard the pops and sound of rapid deflation but no one saw anybody.

The Police are coming round to interview me tomorrow night. They see this as malicious damage and also harassment now.

There are two prime candidates as far as I see. One is a slightly bonkers lady from the sub-continent. She knows me through the church and has been sending me rather a lot of odd emails recently, perhaps she has become obsessed. She would normally be in church but was not on the two evenings in question.

The other is a neighbour with an anger problem who thinks everyone should to obey his every command. He is a senior officer in one of the services and has fallen out with most people in our street, almost certainly un-diagnosed autistic spectrum. We had to get the police to go and visit him a year or two back but he has kept away from us for a while now. Perhaps his seething anger has boiled over again and he has found a new outlet for it. He would know which were my vehicles and the church is not far from where we live.

Of course it may just be the local mobile tyre-fitters trying to increase turnover.

A police woman came round last night and took full details. She is going to hand the notes over to an investigating officer and from what she said they would be happy to go and interview, under caution, the lady who I suspect is behind all of this. I showed her some of the nutty emails and texts I've been getting and it's funny how, when someone else reads them, you see them in a slightly different light. They really are bonkers.

Also looking into getting some CCTV.

It's not that she has a grievance with me, it's more of an attention seeking thing. I got 8o text messages from her one afternoon without sending any replies. She has said several derogatory things about my wife and she is complaining to me about her husband. She also asked if she could take my youngest child and bring him up for me. Apparently I have too many children and she has none.

Seems reasonable.

CCTV update: Two cameras, 25m range, night vision, 30-day memory, £280. Sounds like a good idea to me, anyone know about such things?
