Have only returned to the UK recently after living abroad for the last twenty years and after some clarification. I also apologise in advance if it's been done to death already.

I have received an S172, requesting the details of the driver for a speeding offence (definitely me). The speed was 37 in a 30 zone. My only excuse was I thought it was 40, as there were only a few houses and they were well back from the road but, guilty as charged. I still have a clean driving licence after 37 years, so though I may be offered the speed awareness course but, my Brother in law reckons it's only offered if your within 10% of the limit. I now assume I'll get a £100 fine and 3 points but, if he's wrong how much is it to attend the SAC and is it worth writing a request for one?

Great news NIP declaring myself as the driver has been sent off. Not sure how long it takes for the fine or opportunity to attend the SAC takes.

Ended up on the same road last night with a Police car in front of myself but, behind another vehicle. Lead car turned off and police car then sped up and disappeared within seconds. I was sat at 30 (funny old thing) as we still had a couple of hundred yards of the 30 limit left. He must of pushed it to 40+furious Obviously, he may have received a call but, no siren or lights. Maybe I'll catch up with him on the SAC if I manage to get onelaugh
