I don't have a car at the moment and for years I've been a named driver on my dads insurance for if I take him away or we go out together etc. I don't live with him and his car is kept at his house and registered in his name.

Last week he went to hospital and has been diagnosed with having had a seizure. Because of this he had to tell the DVLA and can't drive for 12 months.

To make it easier to help look after him he has leant me his car for the next few months until I buy a new one. I am a named driver on his policy but I'm not sure where we stand in relation to his policy. I assume he will be classed as having no driving license so will his insurance policy still be valid. If it is valid does it make a difference that it will be kept at my house more often.

I'm sure the insurance company will say I need to take out a new policy but I just wanted to know the legal position before I phone them.

Thanks
