I've waited a while to post about this due to the content.

A period of time ago someone I know very well was pulled over as he was obviously using his mobile whilst driving.

He was spotted by a motorbicycle officer who sits in the samee spot regularly and has been observed pulling other road user for the same offence.

My 'friend' was offered the usual course or points and fine, all normal.

Except he was pooping his pants as he had no tax, no insurance, no MOT and perhaps most importantly, no fecking driving licence.

He thought he was fecked but instead, the officer gave him the paperwork saying he had to attend a driver awarness course.

Online he went and booked and paid for the course, all the while waiting to be sked for some details of his driving licence but none where required, ho he rejoiced when he discovered he didn't even need to produce it at the course !

He has tax, mot and insurance now, but still no license.

So, cash cow or not ?

I assume you've notified the relevant authorities?
Before anyone asks yes I would report a friend for driving in the scenario the OP describes.
th
No I haven't. There are reasons for this that I don't wish to go into whatever the correct course of action.

May I be the first to call shenanigans on this?

1. I cannot believe you would be stopped by the Police and they wouldn't run your number plate to see what else they could find.

2. If you can't show any documents, normally you get a 7 day producer for your local Nick.

3. I was on a Speed Awareness course very recently and you need to tale your DL, which was officially recorded.
No DL on the day, no course.
It is 100% true, I've waited a 'while' to post about it and am being a bit coy with details as it would be simple to work out who it was =)

There is slighly more to the story but I can't go into it as it is giving too much away.

You said "He had no tax, no insurance, no MOT and perhaps most importantly, no fecking driving licence."

So there are NO reason at all. When he is involved in a fatal accident, what then, he may end up in clink, (serves him right), dependants trying to claim when he isn't insured. Basically he is a dick head and needs taking off our roads.

Let's assume insurance would have picked up the third party aspect but leave it at that.

The important bit is the basis of the post, get pulled for a specific offence, imimmediately offeredoffer a course and nothing else is looked at.

I have recently attended a speed awareness course and everyone attending had to show their driving licence and photo licence or the the paper licence and your photo proof ilke a passport. They had all the licence numbers of all attending and checked these off against the licence produced.

Also I am sure the officer who stopped him would have asked for his details or done a number plate check on his vehicle,

Therefore I think your story is a load of bo**ocks.
Nope, it was not a speed awareness awarenessawareness course for a start.

At no point was the person asked for driving licence details
