Hi there, just after a bit of advice from the used car experts.

Bought a 2002 CRV from a dealer in October. Had a minor issue with brake pad and while doing that mechanic noticed the rear springs had snapped. Short story is when going to replace them the bolts are rusted so badly that he is saying it will need to shocks as can't undo bolts.

If so this is potentially a £500 bill. I haven't been able to speak to the dealer yet and the car came with a third party warranty which I will need to contact. Under dealers obligations and warranty terms is this something you feel is classed as wear and tear and I just have to suck it up even though by the condition of the suspension it was pre-existing?

Just wanted an idea of where I stood. My hunch is that it's classed as wear and tear but just wanted to clarify.

Thanks

£2500 and it's done 100,000 miles. I obviously understand at that age its expected.

When was it MOTed? Snapped springs would be a fail wouldn't it?

Rusted bolts are to be expected on a car that age/mileage but if the springs were snapped when you got it and you paid market value for the car then I would be expecting the dealer to contribute to the repair.
Car came with new MOT but I cant show that it came with the springs snapped. That could have happened in my ownership.
