Hi all just after some advice and to what happens now and liability, i guess I'm getting screwed for it. Emma crashed the focus this morning when a bin lorry stopped without warning on wet road the cars inferno of emma only just avoided it and emma bumped the back of them focus is a write of as its only worth 500quid. as its mu car and on my insurance does that mean it will be me that forks out and is it unfortunately emmas fault? the good news is no-one was hurt but the bin lorry was oblivious to the shunt and departed as quick as a bin truck can go?

Is Emma insured? If so, is she a named driver on your policy, or are you both comprehensively covered by individual policies?

If the answer is yes, then you're ok. If not, you might have to dig into your pocket.
Arse so its looking like her fault and Muggins here has to fork out :'(

she's a named driver on my policy sadly we own one car between us (skint students) beans and pasta it is for a while. I've no intention of claiming the yound driver excess for under 25 makes the excess equal to the car insured value. will i still have to pay that if others claim on me with her being a young driver?

i love her optimism the only real damage is a scratch on the car in from it the focus that took the brunt of it. She's not dealt with situations like this before. ill bet i get a tonne of whiplash/can't work/im paralysed claims .....

Just seen the photos of the 2 cars she hit. well hit one pushing it into the other and it looks from the photos like bumpers only but we'll have to see

Dont bet on it... My Ex nudged someone at 3-5mph, they went onto empty roundabout and stopped (claimed they accidentally hit the brake) and we rolled into them.

Apparently we cause £8k of damages to them, we had no damage to our fiat bumper and there was no damage to theirs.
even if you had pics to prove the damage level?

Why do so many people have difficulty understand the very simple concept that if you crash into the back of somebody else that it is your fault for driving too close or fast.
Thankyou for your wonderfully helpful comment. I wasn't shirking responsibility i was simple asking what happens next and a verification of something i had already assumed
