Provisional Entitlement And Learning To Ride

Guys,

Moving house shortly which will mean a commute to work every day so I was thinking of turning to two wheels but I'm confused over what I can and can't ride and what tests I need to take. Every google answer seems to be different.

I applied for my Provisional licence back in 1990 and passed my car test in 1994. My paper licence shows category A in the provisional entitlements so can anyone put me right as to what I can ride etc?
