for £50

reading the badly printed almost illegible print out i was given it says i must pay or request a court hearing within 28 days.

if I fail do to either the police MAY apply for the penalty + 50% in court for enforcement as if it were a fine following a conviction.

I tried to pay it in cash when it was issues and go nothing but an arsey response.

If I request a court hearing what happens? I assume they will have to provide some evidence of the offense being committed? Whats the chances of dash cam footage still being available for a routine traffic stop some 28 days + however long it takes to get a court date?

Ive had a few about 5 years ago I just ignored and never heard anything about. Is this still the case?

what is it with this forum instantly checking everyone's previous posts? Its really really weird I post on a lot of forums and none of them are as bad for it than this one.

You were stopped at the time and know full well what you're accused of wink ; if this goes to court there will be a statement from the police officer read out by the prosecutor stating what happened - this will be their evidence.

The police won't take money off drivers at the roadside, unless the driver is a foreign national without an address in the UK. The police will have explained what you need to do to pay the £50. You won't get away with this unless you have a stunning defence in court (or you don't pay and they don't follow it up).
Just a statement? At the top of the piece of paper it says the officer had seen the vehicle in circumstances that made him reasonably aware that an offense had been committed.

Surely it just cant boil down to its my word against his?

Why on earth not?
because its innocent till proven guilty in this country and a written statement by a policeman its necessarily an accurate account of events.

I know they captured what he believed was an offense being committed as he showed it me through his window as i gave him my details.

but if it was anything serious it would be a proper fine and points.

because he said he was issuing me with a fpn of £50. Im not a career criminal and wasnt aware you just cant pay them on the spot. Seems stupid that tourists get preferential treatment on this.
