reading the badly printed almost illegible print out i was given it says i must pay or request a court hearing within 28 days.
if I fail do to either the police MAY apply for the penalty + 50% in court for enforcement as if it were a fine following a conviction.
I tried to pay it in cash when it was issues and go nothing but an arsey response.
If I request a court hearing what happens? I assume they will have to provide some evidence of the offense being committed? Whats the chances of dash cam footage still being available for a routine traffic stop some 28 days + however long it takes to get a court date?
Ive had a few about 5 years ago I just ignored and never heard anything about. Is this still the case?

The police won't take money off drivers at the roadside, unless the driver is a foreign national without an address in the UK. The police will have explained what you need to do to pay the £50. You won't get away with this unless you have a stunning defence in court (or you don't pay and they don't follow it up).
Just a statement? At the top of the piece of paper it says the officer had seen the vehicle in circumstances that made him reasonably aware that an offense had been committed. ; if this goes to court there will be a statement from the police officer read out by the prosecutor stating what happened - this will be their evidence.The police won't take money off drivers at the roadside, unless the driver is a foreign national without an address in the UK.
