So I was coming back down the motorway, clear road, middle of the day, 'possibly' a bit over the limit, but under 3 digits. I notice a beemer hoon up and wanting past, I duly pulled into lane 2 then the beemer pulled in and started to slow down, I kept my distance and slowed too but still over current limits, I was happy to ease off. Then I noticed what appeared to be small camera's or lights just behind the rear headrests. Umm anyway I kept my distance and we 'convoyed' for a good 10 minutes, with me behind him, dutifully following him into lane one when traffic allowed, all the while a good chunk over the limit. Then he lights up and hoons off like a scorched cat...was I being baited to overtake him so he could pull me? All a bit weird (and a few weeks ago now so not wondering what might drop through the door)

What you on about? I just thought it unusual for an unmarked car to overtake me, then slow down considerably whilst still driving at speed limit plus, and I come onto a driving forum and specifically a speed part of that forum to share and ask if others had experienced the same. You sir seem to be a dingle dangle

Speeding whilst cruising in the outside lane. Awesome.
How else would I pass vehicles in lane 2? Cruising is more gay bar 1am in Amsterdam, pretty sure I was driving, you should get to know the difference.

You're just jealous because he's in the 100 month club with only 197 posts aren't you ?
Indeed I am, I try to work within the confines of quality not quantity.

Which straight away sets alarm bells ringing about the veracity of the thread. Compounded by it starting with "So.........." Just like any good teenager of today.

So if it is true, I don't see what the OP's problem is. So a Police car overtook him whist he was speeding. So it then slowed down, so he slowed down too. So then it continued at a pace over the speed limit that were happy with. So he didn't get done. So all's good. So where's the baiting? So, so, so ,so.
A true tale Loon, I just came on to ask if others had experienced anything similar. I have no problem with the outcome, the baiting reference was to the fact that he had slowed considerably, and could have been construed as an encouragement to re-overtake. I do wonder sometimes about the often pomposity and pettiness of some of the replies from the 'ooo I've got 15,000+ posts on PH's' gang, a chap just wants to share an incident/ story or suchlike and the vernacular police come down like a ton of bricks. (that takes me to 200 in 10 years or so do get a sticker)

That's fair enough. I think you've had the answer though, which is that they dropped you to a speed they were happy with and let you know to stick to it.

I do wonder about low post counts and long membership when schools are out though, as the tales get more and more fantastic. Please stop using "so" as a way to start a sentence, let alone a discussion, it's very Zuckerberg and extremely annoying.
...phew, I've appeased the gods. However wonderful demonstration of my point regarding prolific posters and pomposity...

I think you used quality as your justification. Anyway, as you seem to have taken a dislike to me that's fine, I'll leave you be. I look forward to more of your anecdotes.
Loon don't be so sensitive, I've not taken a dislike to you, but I find it rather patronising to be referred to as a teenager (I'm 45 FFS!) and to be told how to write short internet prose. I'm sure others who fail the grammar, spelling and punctuation test often feel the same. No hard feelings and I will try harder next time. read

It's the way "so" has crept into every day use to start a huge amount of sentences. It's a great way to start a sentence to summarise, but it seems to be used all the time by an ever increasing number of people. I'm not a grammar nazi, far from it, this is just a bugbear of mine.
I do understand, I grew up with an older sister who was an early adopter of the vacuous 'like' Americanism 20+ years ago, it drills through me to my very core! Thankfully my three girls are immune but taking a car load of their friends anywhere almost reduces me to tears now that 'like' comes in sentences ending with an Australian inflection...I do realise that this might sound hypocritical of me!

OP it sounds like they gave you a chance to slow down rather than end up with points be happy about it, they weren't trying to bait you they were seeing how observant you were.

You passed the test so didn't get three points be happy.
Don't recall saying I wasn't happy at any stage in my post, if the overtake and subsequent slow down was carried out by non plod it would have been construed as very odd IMO. My post was trying to explain what happened, and to ask if others had experienced the same, some had, others just waffled on picking holes in grammar or getting the wrong idea about my attitude/ happiness etc. gotta love PH's sometimes
