Caught speeding - Police officer used discretion

Driving earlier going over speed limit, see policeman with laser gun in distance but Im turning off before reaching him. I knew I was over the limit, so decided to drive back around to him to see if I had been caught, would save a two week wait.
Turns out I had been caught, but he was pleased that I'd come around to him and put my hands up owning up to my mistake, he let's me off with a warning was at court speed as well so I'm glad he used his discretion as the speed itself wasn't actually dangerous. Newfound respect and I won't be speeding for a longtime.

Yeah I understand why he's posting that, but I'm glad the policeman decided to use his discretion rather than give me a day in court.

I assumed it was just left on the car, he was about 20 metres from it.
