Just wanted to ask this question before proceeding with a FAC application, I need something more effective than a 12ft lb airgun to control the marauding rabbits on my farm. I don't want to go for an actual rimfire rifle, just to get a FAC rated airgun for better range.

There may be a snag, in the dim and distant past I went out drinking with a load of PH'ers at a well known pub in London, afterwards in my post strawpedo and sambucca state I ended up being cautioned for being inebriated and minor criminal damage ( I cracked a window by leaning against it ).

I don't live in London anymore, and I don't go out and drink sambucca, but there is a caution on record so I know I need to declare it. My question is, will this stop my application for a FAC airgun dead in the water? Is there a best way to go about broaching it with the local FAC team?

It will be a pain if it does as the rabbits are getting to be a real problem, I grow thousands of Xmas trees and rabbits do a lot of damage. So it's directly affecting my livelihood it's not just shooting for fun.

Any input ( esp from BiBs ) would be much appreciated.

Ring up and ask?
That was going to be my next step, was hoping to get some idea of the likely reaction first though on here.

It'll probably get mentioned during the interview, then a follow up letter from a senior Police officer reminding you of your responsibilities blah blah blah.

How long ago was it?
About 7 years ago now.

Think it can also depend on your location, some are stricter than others. There's a good chance you'll be fine as long as you come across like a good citizen & have no other record or medical issues.
Should tick those boxes. And I have my own land, as said it's not some random request, it's as a tool for controlling the rabbits.

As to what the other poster said, the warrens aren't on my land, so I can't ferret them, I've never found traps to be very effective. But I have always had success shooting the little buggers. As far as I'm concerned adult bunnies shot over winter won't be producing baby bunnies in Spring.

If you can't get permission I'm sure plenty of shooters would relish the opportunity to shoot on your land.
Yes, loads of people ask about coming and shooting the deer. Thing is the deer have gotten wise to that and vanished. It's rabbits and moles that are the main nuisance. My neighbour shoots the moles.......he's to be seen firing his shotgun into mole hills of a morning, how he still has his toes I don't know.

Has it really been that long?
Yes, time flies!
