Have proof of mail theft - nobody interested
Discussion
So, further to my last post - i have a video and some stills of the person that has been stealing my mail.
The shot is of his back and a bit of the side, and you get a general idea of where he was walking from. Unfortunately the camera cuts out shortly before he closes the mailbox back up with my mail in his hand.
I've now mounted the camera behind the front door and i'll see if he returns today. I don't know for sure that he will, as he now has everything he has "ordered". Credit card, debit card, pin reminder, new pin, telephone banking security number.
The police came round and were nice enough, but he hasn't gained anything so no crime has been committed. If i catch him today with the key, then he is classed as "going equipped" and they'll definitely be interested. I have to catch him in the act though! I was told to report it to action fraud, but they were already of the same opinion. We'll be chasing the landlord for a new mailbox, as he definitely has a key - we want more secure boxes installed, not just replacement locks.
In my opinion, a relatively small amount of detective work is involved here. Call the number for the mailbox manufacturer which is on the front and ask if anyone has ordered spare keys. Check the CCTV cameras covering the area (Central London FFS) and see what you can see. Follow the guy!
Suggestions?!

Why not just put some dog st in your own letterbox. That will surprise him.
This isn't actually as stupid as it sounds. Replace dog st with a note advising you know who he is and you have cctv of him. Tell him to come round and hand it all over before you contact the police.Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
