Ok so this last Saturday i was stopped by the police and during the course of their checking my record they told me that my license was revoked in July 2013. This was a surprise to me since I received a speeding endorsement in July 2014 and there was no comment about this at the time

Through a process of identification I discovered that following an endorsement in April 2013 there was a confusion with my record that meant that despite the fact that I took the points and paid the fine the record at the DVLA showed that I had not

I have spoken to the Police in Scotland, they identified that there was no way my license should have been revoked and claim to have sent a mail to the DVLA at 11:30am on Monday

The DVLA then told me it would take 24-48hrs to confirm that an email would be received

Now they are saying they have received nothing from the Scotland. Furthermore not only are they saying that it will therefore take a further 24-48hrs to confirm if they receive another email but that it could take 10 working days to process any reply onto my record

This all seems totally ridiculous and I am getting desperate. I have done nothing wrong, am the victim of an error and really need this to be fixed.

I am really hoping someone out there has some ideas

Apologies but tell me what?

I live predominantly abroad and have come back for my job (which I am struggling with given an inability to get around) and for a driving holiday.

I really would appreciate some help

You are in touch with the DVLA, and they are dealing with rectifying the error, albeit slowly. So what is it exactly that you are panicking about?

As an aside, the thread title says that the DVLA are being totally uncooperative, yet in your post you go on to say that they are dealing with this.
On the basis I will be back out of the country by next Thursday, and it is impacting my ability to do my job or actually have my planned holiday????

I am aware this is not life and death but a two week turn around to rectify a mistake is (to these eyes) totally uncooperative

Nope unfortunately I have no licence until this is sorted out. The Police would not let me drive any further at the time

Their mistake, my problem

At the point in time I was with the police I got a Notice of Intended Prosecution which they said I would have to defend myself against. They kindly drove my car to a nearby friends (thankfully one of them wanted to try the Tiger which helped with this act of kindness!)

DVLA have conceded that they cannot understand what has happened in this instance and have initiated an investigation...

...timescale? "Up to three weeks"

In the meantime I have been informed that I do not have a licence and cannot drive a car (as a practical point I am completely uninsured without a licence so this is not a risk I wish to take)

The whole thing is borderline third world- I would be cheesed off if I was treated like this in China (where I spend much of my time) let alone here

What would happen if I was a taxi driver? Or a Truckie?

And the other shoe drops
Someone with a complicated nationality / residency arrangement fails to mention that in his story of dvla have fked up there can be no other possible explanation post.
I am not certain why having a complicated residency is relevant? I have complied with all requirements of the law and as a regular visitor to the UK have confirmed with the Police on more than one occasion that I have entitlement/need for a UK licence. I am aware that the standard procedure for an overseas residence is to get a licence from his locale but China is an unusual case in this instance as a Chinese driving licence (which I also possess) is not legal in the UK

Advice/instruction not to drive has come from both DVLA and BiB
