Hi,

Was wondering if anyone could give me any advice.

I was travelling down a B road. Saw a HGV coming, thought that was a bit large for being down the road so pulled over and stopped. The lorry drove into me anyway and did about 2k of damage. The driver behind the lorry stopped, grabbed my number and chased after it. He got the name on the side "NISA" but not the reg. I contacted NISA who said DHL do all there contracts. DHL however, deny any vehicle being in the area. My witness confirmed it was NISA and that he is not "an idiot, and knows what he saw".

Has anyone had a similar experience? Looking at the DHL website, it says they have trackers on their lorries. Is this a case of just denying it so they don't have to cough up? I'm sure my witness is not wrong, also given the fact they have just opened a store nearby and also given the fact my brother's girlfriend lives on the road and has seen them driving down their. I'm hoping to get some CCTV of the road from a few companies that are in the area!

The insurance company says they will pursue and get solicitors involved but I'm not sure they can demand to see the tracker info or delivery logs. Anyone had similar experiences with DHL or another company? I'm so pissed off they are lying about it!!

NB - i have reported to the police also.

I'm going to state the fairly obvious here.

Your witness would have been a whole lot more useful if he'd got the lorry reg,not the name of the company.
Thanks for you insightful feedback, it would have been even better if the lorry had not hit me. I know the reg would have been good but at least I have something. I'm hoping the CCTV will show it driving just down the road.

Where did the incident occur (approx.), and what DHL depot did you contact?

DHL Supply chain are not in the business of trading like a 2 bit pallet moving haulier, especially when in customer livery.
Between Witham and Maldon. I just called NISA who transferred me to their DHL contact. I was wondering given there had been an accident in the area and there were diversions in place that the driver was not meant to be down there. The road has a 20 tonne limit sign on it.

You'll find that DHL will have pre-approved routes they will take to/from the stores to minimize disruption to local residents etc, if the road the accident took place was off the designated route than that would tally up with them saying the truck wasn't in the area, it won't be until they check the tracker they will be able to confirm where it was. This won't come until you get solicitors involved, it'll be long and drawn out as the witness didn't get a registration as they'll have to check various vehicles and where they were at the set time.
Thanks, that gives me some hope. So long as its sorted in the end!! Thanks fella.

OP you had an accident where a lorry hit you on a narrow road and did not stop.A member of the public witnessed the accident and drove after the lorry and got the company name on the side of the lorry but not the registration number.

You had your car repaired and complained that the paint job was terrible and asked if it was normal. No it is not and the paint job should be very good so you would not notice the car has had a respray. You either E-mailed your insurance company or the garage that did the work and after two weeks they will as you say give it another go.

Then yesterday your girlfriend stays in a hotel paying the £70 bill by card and is also charges an extra £140 for two rooms that were not used that she had not booked.

You have just given an update to say you cannot say much as the company who owns the lorry are denying they had an accident involving your car but you have a Ace up your sleeve.

If you were in a Batman film I think you would be the joker.

I find it very hard to believe that DHL are denying this so quickly and saying it never occurred.
Unless there's more that you aren't telling us?
No, straight up. Would you like to see a copy of the email from DHL, maybe a copy of the witness statement? Not sure why I'd lie about it.

When I get this all sorted I will put up all the correspondents and insurance details etc Then you can eat your words fella. I'm not so sure why it's hard to believe a lorry hit my car and drove off. It's not like I'm saying a UFO hit me. I hope your pride and joy gets hit today and the driver takes off. Nothing would make me more happy.
