My OH ordered a 1st Edition Jaguar FPace last September. These cars came with a fixed specification, with no additional options allowed and all at a fixed price of around £65,000.

These cars are now arriving in the showrooms, but it appears the original specification now has at least three omissions.

Adaptive surface response £150.00, 10 way electric memory seats £450.00 and Loadspace retention kit £172.00.

These are all available as options on other models but shown as standard in the 1st Edition brochure and highlighted as standard on the configurator.

A representative from Jaguar on another forum has just said sorry and it was a mistake in the aforementioned brochure and configurator which will be rectified.

Two of the above are factory fit so cannot be added now by the dealer.

My question is can they legally misrepresent?

My thoughts are that they have a right to alter spec but inform customers and offer alternatives. I cant see how you can enter into a contract at a set price then simply remove £772.00 worth of items without informing the customer.

Is it worth pursuing?

Thanks.

I'm not sure if direct linking is allowed but if you go onto F Pace forums .co.uk . Jaguar customer relations. Thread title FE Loadspace Rail Query, most of your questions are answered. Those that say there may be terms and conditions exemptions, I'm sure you are right.

In the scheme of things it's not really a deal breaker but I do think it misleading.

You may have noticed I've been on here for many many years so know how It works.

What I don't understand is when you post a situation asking for opinion, and the vast majority of replies are extremely helpful. Then, the vitriol sets in, ignoring the original post and taking the thread off track and now concentrating on our choice of vehicle, irrelevant insinuations about showing off etc.

Such a shame but thanks for the helpful replies.

In what sense? What outcome would you like to achieve?
No there is nothing additional offered.

I guess we are not really hoping to achieve anything rather than highlighting poor marketing. Whilst hating the compo culture, an admission of screwing up (which they have done) followed by an offer of a free service or something would have been nice. It's the way it's just been dismissed that riles. Not only us, but many on the F Pace forum.

I'm sorry, but we have been asked not to disclose ongoing conversations on any forum, so for the time being I am going to keep quiet.

I will say to those that asked what would happen if we walked away, my view is that in spite of some thinking the car is overpriced tat, there is a large list of people crying out for cancelled orders so I don't think Jaguar would be unduly worried.

Apologies again for not being able to offer closure. If at a later date I can, I will.

And thank you again for the many great responses.

Di

just a quick response to this.

Looking at the brochure the following information is shown for the Jaguar F-Pace First Edition:

10 way electric front seats are standard, memory setting for the seats is not available

Adaptive Surface Response is not a standard feature neither is it an option on the F-Pace First Edition

Loadspace storage rails are standard

This information is taken from the October 2015/MY17 brochure, JLM/10/02/88/1015

So maybe someone is mistaken?
There are some links on the FPace forum. One from the configurator which was still live yesterday. I will try and dig it out tomorrow and post it here.

I think there were many spec changes and confusion because many countries get entirely different specs. We were shown a dealer spec yesterday which clearly says sliding panoramic roof as standard, but that too was removed early on.

Sliding panoramic roof was never, ever available on the First Edition or an option.

It may have been for a different market, not for the UK
I have dealer spec in front of me now and it is. Repeat, dealer spec, they were working from.

Just taken a crap pic of spec which I will post in morning.

Do you honestly think I'm making this up???

Oh and ferdyg go on the forum I have twice indicated and perhaps view the facts.

Hopefully you can see the sliding roof included, but also this particular spec does not have the memory seats. i think it was said by others that they were in the configurator. Also it gives additional colours which aren't available in the uk market so I accept it could possibly be for overseas, but it is the one my Uk dealer was working from

This was still live on the configurator on Weds

Adaptive Dynamics Pack (AWD only. ALL features in this pack are standard on First Edition) - code Z07A - Consists of Adaptive Dynamics and Adaptive Surface Response.

Anyway like I said I will make no further comment whilst talks are ongoing. I just wanted to show the doubters I am not making this up.

F-PACE FIRST EDITION

Inspired by the C-X17 Concept, F-PACE First Edition offers exclusive design details and high specification features available with the 3.0 litre V6 300PS Turbocharged Diesel.

Price: £65,275

KEY FEATURES IN ADDITION/REPLACEMENT TO S:
22” alloy wheels
Head-Up Display Pack
Adaptive LED headlights with LED ‘J’ Blade Daytime Running Lights
Caesium Blue unique paint colour
Suedecloth headlining
Activity Key
InControl Touch Pro with Meridian Digital Surround Sound System (825W)
Panoramic Roof
Gesture Tailgate

taken from the Jaguar.co.uk website.

The spec for the USA is different.

Not suggesting that you are making it up at all, but the information the dealer is feeding you is incorrect.
Looking at the above, I may have another conversation tomorrow. A guy on the FPace forum has just posted his actual receipt showing Meridian Surround Sound System 380W.

Happy days
