Incorrect signage?

A main (A) road has a 50 mph limit. When joining from a side road which is NSL, is a single 50 speed limit sign sufficient, i.e. only on one side of the joining road, or should there be two (one each side of the road)?

So going from a higher to lower limit, one would generally expect there to be 2 terminal signs. When the limit is increasing then one sign will always be sufficient because there is no increased risk in missing the sign
