I've received a letter from a private parking company for parking at a service station.

A quick google gave mixed results some saying to ignore and they'll eventually go away and others talking about getting taken to court, CCJ's etc. so I'm a bit unsure of the best course of action.

Should I ignore it or should I just pay it and avoid getting shafted by additional charges mounting up, court etc?

Has been general policy for 50 years the only major change is ANPR is now used more widely than the old "man in a van" and clamping.

Link to older policies http://motorwayservicesonline.co.uk/MSA_Policy

Read it and sleep smile
Thanks for the link, I'm in Scotland though so not sure if that makes a difference?

Is the ticket valid? How long did you actually park for? Driving round isn't parking. Can they prove you parked?

Do not ignore. That is old advice.
I'm not sure, the letter just shows a picture of me driving in and one driving out I don't know if they have other cameras or pictures. I was in the services for just over 2 hrs.

So 2hrs is free, I was over by 10 mins just my luck! I never park in service stations and was totally unaware that they had any kind of enforcement tbh so wasn't looking out for any signs.

Advice for Scotland is ignore everything they send you. It can't be enforced up here if the driver isn't known.
Who advises that it's ok to ignore in Scotland? Or is that just the word on the street... biggrin

Thanks for all the advice.

General consensus seems to be ok to ignore in Scotland. I spoke to a few friends today who suggested the same and some had done so themselves on more than one occasion.
