How long for SORN to register on DVLA website?
Discussion
Hi Chaps,
We bought a car (local private sale) on Monday (16th May). The car was SORNed by the previous owner, and needs a few jobs sorting, so he kindly trailered it round onto our drive to enable us to keep it SORN until the work is completed.
I posted the V890 form on Tuesday (17th), but the vehicle status on the DVLA website is showing as 'Not taxed keeper change' - indicating they have received the previous owner's V5C, and confirmed by us receiving the new V5C yesterday (21st).
I am now not sure if DVLA have received the V890. Does it normally take longer to register on the website than the change of keeper? I retained the Post Office proof of posting, but didn't use the 'signed for' service.

I can now see that the DVLA website contradicts itself somewhat. On one page it gives the impression that SORN must be done by post if you are not the vehicle's registered keeper - which you won't be immediately after purchase. However, if you proceed with the online application, there is then the option to use the doc ref number off New Keeper's Supplement, V5C/2
