Just curious but does anyway one know it's possible to trace a mobile number down?

I just had a voicemail threatening to kill me and my kids, I've already rung the police as it is a little unsettling. But curious to know if I can do anything else.

Cheers!

Post it on here and let the PH detectives have a field day!
It is tempting but might wait till I hear back from the police first. Also though about putting it up on Reddit or somewhere for people to "have a chat" with the caller!

Is it someone you know? Is there a backstory?

Are you going to text them saying 'Hello (insert name). The police would like a word!'

Keep us posted!
Nope never heard of her, never even been to Harrow (where she says she doesn't live), she doesn't work (she's a princess apparently) and she's into women so not a vengeful one night stand either!

Was pretty sure I wasn't going to be killed, but am not happy for threats to be made to my kids.

To be honest I wouldn't know how to post a pic from her facebook account and they really aren't "interesting"

Well I can post a link direct to her facebook profile....

They're all family/friends etc...

Just tried truecaller and it shows a hidden number called after the one i thought had made the call.

This didnt show up in my normal call log though but does now. I would have thought it ould be and "unknown" and not be visable. It as recieved at the same time as the number I thought made it.

Crossed lines?

Certainly my first thought would've been "OMG, someone's threatening me and my kids!!11!!! Call the police, NOW!!11" rather than "Have I upset someone recently? No? Must be a wrong number then."
That it wasnt directed at me and my family makes the behavior ok then does it?

You've not only reported it to the police but then decided to play Poirot yourself AND start a thread to tell people how you and your kids have been threatened but turns out it wasn't directed at you at all. For all you know it could've been a joke between friends.

Just to make it clear: it was a single voicemail, from someone not known to you, with no evidence who it was for, absolutely no threat to yyou and here you are trying to track them down having already got the police involved. Why? confused
Curiosity.

Care to answer my question now? Or you just here to troll?

If it's a genuine threat then no, it's not acceptable.

So, what are you hoping to get out of 1. calling the police. 2. doing your own detective work. 3. this thread?
As I said in the op, it has been unsettling. Despite rationally "knowing" its a prank call (though threatening to kill kids is a bit odd imho) I'm after a bit peace of mind.

Yes, because murderers often phone in their threats to wrong numbers don't they? rofl

Total overreaction.
Until it is known who the caller is how do I know if it's a wrong number though?

What is the actual point of you posting though? You don't agree with my approach, fair enough, but why then bother to keep going on about it?

As I already mentioned, if you can't think of anyone you've upset enough to be issuing death threats then it's not going to be for you.
I have upset one person, not sure if they're that mental though..

As for the second point, it's just until someone else requires trolling. biggrin

Was it a woman who left the voicemail?

Depending on the response form the police, you could follow up by posting the audio from the voicemail on to her FB publicly or privately and ask her to explain?
Couldn't tell, they were disguising their voice could have been a man or a woman.

I'll update if I hear back from the police.

The caller was a "traveller" and it seems I have a number similar to a family that they have fallen out with.

All sorted, thanks for the tips on finding them!
