We live on a modern housing estate, with parking in small courtyards behind the houses. Last night about half eleven I took the dog for a final stroll and was very surprised to see a car parked on the entrance to the parking behind my house. Tucked well back from the road too, not just pulled off the back of the pavement.

There was a guy sat in it, who told me he was waiting for a friend who was just round the corner so had parked up to make a phonecall. Loads of parking available on the street. About 5 mins later he drove off, I'm pretty sure on his own.

I noted down the reg plate, and when I checked the DVLA website, mainly to make sure I'd remembered it correctly, and the car is showing as SORN. I'm pretty sure he's up to something so is it worth a report to 101?

I did report it to 101. Waited half an hour for a call-back, but the call handler was very helpful, immediately started asking about signs of hash in the car or any smell of it and said he would pass on to the intelligence team. There have been issues with dealers in the flats on the estate in the past...

Only ran the DVLA check to make sure what I'd remembered as the number plate was correct for that model of car...

Nope, tonight when we came home there was a girl sitting on the road sign at the corner of my house, said the chain had just come off her bike. 5 mins later I took dog for a walk and the same Merc pulled up, passed her a small package and reversed off rapidly. Her bike miraculously recovered at the same time...
