Parking on a grass verge next to zigzag lines

Can you park on a verge next to a pedestrian crossing if your not parked in the road were the zigzag lines are if your not in the road but on the verge.

You would very tight to the pedestrian crossing.

What offence if any would you comit?

Having been passed again I don't think the operator chose the spot, if your comming round the bend its as far as possible to the limit of vision so they can catch the maximum of speeders. It looks like plastic grasscrete has been put their especially so they don't get into mudding grass etc and get stuck.

Sad thing is its also very poor in relation to crossing. It seems to have little to do with setting an example to motorist of safety of pedestrians and all to do with best position to catch the most speeders.

The choice to site it here seems clear when coming from the other direction.

If you like to the far right of the bend limit point, you can just see the van.

Perhaps relates to future development but at the moment, the crossing and lights just look an excuse to justify the 30 limit.

I think people cross the road and access their the field to walk their dogs etc.

Avon and Somerset have long been a shower.

Do as they please in many cases, seen numerous pcsos on blue light or in marked police car speeding with hazards on the wrong side of the road.

Their traffics/arv officer is bully people through reds lights despite signing up to blue lights aware. And it being contrary to their training.

Going back 19 years ago I was knocked off my bike by a marked police car for riding a bike without lights!

I am not anti police and served with Devon and Cornwall but I have never been impressed with the antics of Avon and Somerset. This somes them up, do as we say not as we do, is very much the force mantra.

They don't care have made complaints in the past.

They posted a clear your snow from your vehicle msg or you maybe be prosecuted on social media a few years back. I snapped a makerd car being driven with 4 inches of snow covering the roof and light bar, the same day.

They responded that the officer had cleared the windows and they were happy with the conduct.

No just replied police have exception and that car was used for police purposes.

They have just changed there non blue light fiestas which had a magnetic single blue beacon for use at scenes, to new corsas with full light bars so all pcsos have blue,lights and siren perminantly.

In some areas they rely heavily on pcsos and they are solely deployed to incidents. Despite them not having the power of arrest I have even seen one threaten to arrest someone. They said they would have the person Charged with threatening beheaviour. When their power of arrest was challenged they stated they would report all to the beat PC who was on holiday and lt them make them come down and arrest the person.. after 1 month past the beat pc was contacted. The log for incident contained virtually none of the conversation with the two pcsos, or any mention of arrest or further action. Funny that it just advice given on behaviour in future person to report incidents in future and not speak to neighbour again regarding. incident closed.

Funny that beat pc was very good but the two pcsos were laughable.

Yes I was, listening to music from my Walkman and riding home, apparently a policeman on foot further back and shouted at me to stop but I didn't hear him, as it was summer evening still a lot light but I had no lights on not dark but starting to get dark. I had also ridden in the pavement further back but was in the road when the police car hit me.

The car did a type of hard stop like you see on road wars pulled over and crashed into the kerb at 45 degrees. I complained and was told that's what you get for ignoring a policeman. They treated me like,the great train robber and asked me for I'd which I had none. They then got control to call my parents and confirm my identity. The control room said the mother wants to know what going on after giving a description of me and my bike. Policeman reply her sons been involved in and incident and then left her wondering what the hell was going on. I was given a good telling off and sent on my way.

I had to walk the 1.5 miles home and the police car drove up and down the road each way passing me several times to make sure with didn't ride. Turned out my front wheel was buckled anyway after that. My dad went bananas.

Got home to a very scared mother who thought something had happened to me and had phone the hospital when I explained they were none to to happy with the police.

Most police are decent honest people but you will always gets all proportion of bent coppers in all ranks. To varying degrees some just abuse their authority a little, some are abusing vulnerable women they meet and doing hard drugs in heir spare time.

I have to say I have never recieved any trouble with them for complaining but they don't seem to take those complaints seriously.

Avon and Somerset do have a system that seems to turn a blind eye to slot of low level abuse.

I am not sure if the last police that stopped me was Avon and Somerset or NCA. I was being tailgated on a303 by an unmarked q7 at the limit. I booted it and took off and when he caught me up he got out. In jeans and tshirt and his female passenger was dress in civvies. He got a police high viz and moaned about me speed and gave me warning and took off again.

The last officer I had a run in was on a services access road and he stopped me at the other end. I showed him my ha badge and motorway pass but he insisted I got back in the motorway and that the access road I had just come down was for emergency services only. I stated no its for ha, service staff access hotel access and is not dangerous due to emergency service vehicles as the drivers are suitably trained. He was in uniform but on a unmarked bike. I asked him if the road was dangerous why was he making me go back up it? He just got mad. I asked for his unit and inspector he reported to he refused. I called 101 and started to complain and they asked for his collar number. He said there it is in my jacket.

They said the road was. Not for public use , I explained on was on ha business and have exception from motorway regulations in a marked car with motorway pass, I had identified myself and the officer refused me access. They said he can't do that, i said well he is. I was advised by an Inspector and given his collar number to continue on my journey and ignore the pc.

The pic did not like this and threaten to arrest I said what for.

I left and someone came as I did so he started on at them.

I made a formal complaint which was ignored I chased for feedback and got nowhere,

I reported to incident in the office snd it was escalated to the head of area and I was called into the next liaison meeting with the police. The head of the roads policing unit was very embarrassed and said he would investigate. He then reported that the officer had bee spoken to and was not even supposed to be in that area at the time. They had been given a reprimand and they finally apologised.

They then said the inspector I spoke to failed to report the incident as well.
