Police Officer Smashes Windscreen

In a nutshell. Plod pull over a driver; appears to be more than 'routine'. Driver refusing to get out of the car. Copper smashes windscreen to immobilise him (plod is heard to be saying something about the driver being disqualified). Driver reports cop to DPS; copper(s) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-37401527.

As with a lot of these videos, we don't see the 'before', only the during.

Some videos (as the first on in the link shows) only show the meaty bits but as the second clip shows, there was a bit more to it. Perhaps it was mistaken identity, or perhaps he really was a toerag who uses aliases to get away with driving whilst disqualified. Why doesn't he just get out and assist the police officer with his enquiry?

FB is awash with coppers v ethnics claims. Makes me sick.

Had that driver been surrounded by a gang of 'man dem' he wouldn't have been using his phone to record the event, he'd have been using it to phone the same police he's now trying to get reprimanded.

There was a lot of dialogue before the plod started the smashing. There were numerous requests to get out of the car. Driver simply refused. It got heated afterwards. We don't see what happened - or what was said - before the clip started.

I think the car might have been registered to the (alleged/suspected) banned driver. My point is, if it was a case of mistaken identity, why being so difficult about it?

I'm not sure what I make of this statement. Was he in a state of panic? Was he worried about what the rozzers would find during the raid? Was he of sound mind?

It's just not heard of, especially in this country. I don't know the facts so I'm looking at this with an open mind but it does seem a bit harsh to blame the police for him killing himself, no?
