So this happened on my way home earlier!

Watch: https://vimeo.com/184745988

What makes this whole situation that bit more sickening is this....

Quick background; car/bike enthusiast since 17. Passed at 17, driven cars, vans, bikes, for the last 6 years covering well over 200,000 miles in that time! (Touch wood without incident, and yes.. that involves driving to conditions not limits. Shock.

1.The only reason I'm driving my BMW is I've just bought a second car MX5 and SORN'd it as I didn't want to bother paying for a full months tax for 3 days use. Even made a thread about it on here as I was unsure what to do!

2, I've just sorted all my insurance out, and payed through the roof for it to be legal - declaring all mods on my new car etc.

3. So due to SORN'ing MX5, I took my BMW diesel to work, and on the way home, I took a different route to give it a bit more of a 'run' and get up to optimum temperature. (only 5 mile journey - no good.)

Turns out it would have been cheaper to tax my MX5 for the month, or 6, rather than 3 days....

4. What rubs salt into the wound further is that I stick to 30MPH the entire way past the school, which by the way is completely dead at 5.30PM as the video shows.

I am not speeding at all in my head, merely concentrating in the roads and hazards ahead (coach) I simply leave the car happy in 4th gear and it picks up a few MPH.

5. Just to cut me deeper, I can't spot the Policeman as he's in mostly black and hidden nicely by a reflective sign and a dark coloured bush behind.

Convenient how his police car is parked up on the road adjacent hidden out the way and he's stood at the bottom of a hill with his laser gun isn't it?

6. What's even funnier - and if your reading this, you owe me a pint. Or 100. As I'm being read my ticket details, a Ford Focus ST in asbo orange and clearly modified with a sports exhaust comes flying down the hill and around the corner at well over 45mph. I actually laughed with disbelief at this point.

I'm 100% usually on the police's side and first to defend them in most instances, especially with all these morons online now thinking they are gods gift and recording police doing all-sorts. I was very nice to the bloke even though inside I was raging, and pretty much begged for a slap on the wrists but he wasn't having it - all about those tickets don't you know..

He showed me the laser gun displayed 38 and that was that.

Unfortunately this is a classic case of Police out to hit targets. Not a single piece of road safety about it. I consider myself a very good driver and always on the look out and driving to the roads conditions.

I used to want to be a Policeman but am firmly sure I've made the right choice now, at the old age of 22..

I guess a classic case of 'fk the system' can't beat it, so I thought a good old moan would help. It kind of has.

The money doesn't annoy me, the shear principle of how st the country is when it comes to road policing. Especially when complete twunts are allowed on the road in their micras/ i10's / aygo's that don't have a clue where they are going. The injustice is real..

/RANT

I don't suppose there's anything I can do? Are the usual 'he should have had signs out' or 'that gun isn't calibrated' worth their piss?

Cheers.

Haha, to be honest - didn't even think I was speeding, that's what I meant by that.

Of course, I've manned up and taken it - st happens. I just think it's a fking joke. Anyone with an ounce of common sense can tell that's not unsafe driving. OH NOOOOES a 30 sign!!1111. lol.

Just gutted my life line is gone, on commuting from work FFS.... Could have at least been a half decent attempt on my bike. Gutted.

Man up.

You weren't doing less than 38 in a 30 (I'll avoid the discussion about over-reading speedos)
It's clearly signposted as a 30. Very clear.
Any school is partly irrelevant - that's a fairly residential area. Your own video shows parked cars, zebra crossings, houses, etc
The Focus ST broke the law as well so also irrelevant.

Quit the melodrama and side story, your make/model of car is irrelevant, as is your prior ambition to join the police.

You aren't hard done by, you took a risk and have the consequences. HTH.

(I do enjoy speed but am religious in 30 and 40 zones, it's just easier)
I guess I feel hard done by or 'why me' in my head. To me it seems very unfair a.k.a cash cow. It's done, and I don't care much, I'm just pissed off... hope you got that. Lol.

Put it this way, I don't feel like I took a risk. I've taken far bigger, as we all have lets be honest.

Ah! So it's the policemans fault. Got it now.
Duh, obviously. People actually brake down hills? fk that. All about that MPG life.

When did car enthusiasts become such angels..

Got it in 1 - target hitting

Given he blends in so much I'd have been very tempted to carry on and run the lanes
I kind of wish I had. No camera either, would need a relatively good memory.

Wonder what the consequences would have been lol.

Clearly not concentrating that hard as you seem to have ignored the 30 sign at about 6 second in.
You need to get out more. I've managed 6 years without incident - no fks given.

Standard PH responses. Truth is, most of us would be just as pissed off as the OP if we'd been caught like that, but having spent a while on PH we'd know better than to come here and complain about it.
I didn't realise they were that bad on here TBH. Almost as good as mumsnet.

Indeed, the usual, arsewipes will join the fray shortly, trust me. wkers had me locked out of my own post tuther day.

Y'see, there's a little squad of perfects on here that have a lot to say, because they have the anonymity of the Internet.

But they'd never say it to your face, because mummy wouldn't let them out that late, and they have no real balls.

Feel your pain OP, slags working a slag system.
Haha, nice one. Good to see there are some normal folk that can relate.

Seems Mr.Opposite is all too easy to play on here...

Can we get the title fixed? I came here expecting theft & violence, assumed halfway through the OP that there would be some kind of crash for cash scam involved, then discovered it's all about being caught at 38 in a 30 - not even one of those stupid 20 limits that seem to be popping up everywhere!
Haha, it's a play on words wink Mr 5-0 is actually the career criminal, even though I'm the one with a NIP lol.

Indeed, copper at the bottom all in black, what a slag. I would be the first to support a proper copper, but that dog has just been told by the super to go,out and catch a few mugs.

Where's 'Twig the wonder ' when you need him, to give us the facts ?
That made me laugh haha. 100% true. Catch a few mugs, pretend it's safety blah blah, go and watch bullst safety video, proceed to drive in exactly the same manner. And such is life I suppose. What a load of bullst we subject ourselves to. I'd imagine he caught one every few minutes. I'm ticket 3 and he said he hadn't been there long.

Should have turned back and proceeded to warn every other person on the road.. not that I'd ever do that. smile

[/qte]

'....very good driver'... but not good enough to drive within the speed limit in a built up area.

'....very good driver'... but not good enough to identify muliple hazards on that stretch of road.

'....very good driver'... but not good enough to react to a warning headlamp flash.

'....very good driver'... but not good enough to reduce speed where road markings advise you to 'SLOW'

Sorry OP, but it's yourself you should be angry with.
Was driving over the speed limit unsafe? Whom did I put at risk?

That's wasn't a headlight flash. It's the bumps in the road. If you see, as I drive over that area it's proper bumpy! If it was a flash id have noticed immediately. Camera just makes it look like that.

Most road marking's that warn 'SLOW' are conplete horsepoop anyway, so yeah - igored and drove to road conditions instead like the previous 90,000. Just this one time too many I guess. Naughty me!

I know it's my 'fault' mate. What I'm getting at is that it's a pathetic technique and box ticking exercise.

My God I love Internet critics. I was there. It happens alot on that road due to the bumps. If you'd like, I can get some more clips when I come home that way.

You have absolutely nothing to moan about or blame anyone else except yourself.
I nearly spat my tea out. Thanks.

8 + 30 = 38. 8 over the limit. I HIGHLY doubt my speedo went over the 40 mark. But thanks for your highly intelligent response, I lol'd.

Surely someone on here is anal enough to analyse my footage and tell me?

Genuinely astonished by some of the replies on here! I didn't come looking for sympathy or anything like that and thought my attitude towards the police was rather good etc. (Bearing on neutral now)

I feel a slap on the wrists would have worked better - now I'm just pissed off. Lol.

I just wanted to highlight that the system doesn't work. Let's face it - it's bullst. Take the whole 30 out the equation, nothing there was dangerous or unsafe.

I've taken it fine, my fault. I just think it's such a horrific system.

Oh well.

Looks like the Disco 4/RRS early in the vid did?
Unfortunately not. Caused by bumps in the road. Watch when I drive over the same section.

I would have definitely noticed that. Unless I was on my phone of course.

Look guys - I'm just frustrated this is what road policing has come too - a pointless ticking exercise.

By all means if some twerp IS driving unsafely or fast past a school at 8.30am, they deserve to be pulled up about it.

My point is, sitting at the bottom of a hill where good, honest motorists are driving past built up areas slowly and then obviously going to build up a few MPH down a hill with no real hazards is just a bit sickening.

I think that the OP should change the title to -Spot the twonk who doesn't know how to use his brake pedal.
To be fair - for the first case in 6 years I've actually been caught it's hardly a big deal. I've jumped on the brakes in different areas many times.

Guessing you stuck to 30 in all areas at all times constantly, then?

I assume you spotted him in the video first time from way back too? Ah yes, of course you did....
