In Loughborough a moment ago I was just passed by an unmarked police Volvo of 1997 vintage. R plate. I was not aware that such old vehicles were in use. Does anyone know of older?

Yes, they have historic fleets that get driven on road.

Not on active duty presumably, whereas the Volvo appeared to be working.

How do you know it was a Police car if it was unmarked?
Blue lights in the grille and back windows, siren sounding.

Where did it say police then?
It didn't. Unmarked cars tend not to say Police on them.

The location of the lights suggested that it was an unmarked police car.

Are you thinking something different?

Could be Fire or Ambulance service, certain roles within the Fire Service I know in particular can use their own car.
Don't they usually have a light on a curly cord that they stick on the roof as and when? This one had proper fitted lights.

No, they can use fitted grill lights. Been a few threads on here about it over the years.
This one had them in the grille, and rear windows. It also had a proper siren, which was in use. I stand to be corrected but I've not seen a Trumpton before with the full disco setup.

There was I recall a silver L322 involved with the Cameron/May trip to the palace in the summer.
It'll be armoured and consequently not cheap to replace.
