Current position on foreign penalty/points on UK licence?

Is anyone able to advise of the current effect of foreign speeding violations on a UK licence? I've just been notifed by my hire company that they have been told of a traffic violation (I presume speeding) in the Netherlands and have passed my details to the Dutch authorities.

As I say, I assume speeding and if that's the case although I didn't intentionally speed, I'll pay any fine that comes my way. But if there are points levied...can they go on a UK licence?

I've done some googling and all I can find is some agreement in 2015 which allows cross border authorities to share details to levy fines. Can't see any chat on points.

I'll be returning to the country regularly so will have to pay the EUR45 fine.
