Heading down to Eastleigh today from Winchester on the M3 and was in the outside lane passing some slower moving cars. We were doing below 70 (a temporary 50 on the illuminated signs in the central reservation) when a Merc 4x4 comes up behind me and flashed at me .. I couldn't get over as there was no space and so carried on passing the cars I was passing ... more flashing ... then leaning on horn from Merc driver.

There was a car in front of me so I couldn't do a damn thing and he closed up right on my arse so I just dabbed the brakes gently to bring on the brake lights - more horn ensued from Merc.

I pulled in to the middle lane as soon as I could to let him past and as he came level with me both he and his bimbo bitch in the passenger seat were mouthing insults at me so I flipped them the finger. Next thing is the bint in the passenger side launched a (full) 1.5 litre bottle of Coke out if the window at me ... it hit my car on the A-post and would have come through my side window and have hit me as I had the window open as I was having a ciggie at the time if I hadn't braked.

As it was it hit my A pillar - scooted over my roof and the car behind me had to swerve to avoid it.

I had the guys number and reported it at Eastleigh but had a phonecall later saying the car was registered in Buckinghamshire and the Bucks police weren't interested in following it up. The real pisser is that just round the bend from Jct 11 was a marked car pulled up on the hard shoulder obviously doing some bloke for speeding! GRRRRRR!

Nope ... I was in the outside lane as I *WAS* passing slower moving vehicles and was keeping up with the flow of traffic in my lane. I know that the illuminated signs are only advisory. I had a car in front of me so I couldn't put my foot down and get past the cars to my left quicker and the only way I could have got in was to cause the drivers to my left to take action if I tried to cut in.

I guess I'm just a bit p*ssed that it seems that its OK for chinless wonder muppets to throw sh*t around on a motorway...

I *CAN* see the point of view of the police - after all it is just my word and there *IS* bugger all that they can actually do however I would have considered that a brief word to the registered owner of the vehicle explaining that a complaint had been made wouldn't have been expecting too much.

I was pretty miffed though when the desk seargent at Eastleigh said "It's not exactly going to be high on our list of priorities though." to me when I actually filed the complaint.

Over the last three or four years I've seen a marked increase in really stupid things going on on the roads - I rack up about 40k miles a year and it always irks me that there is no real way to report dangerous acts. This one just went a bit too far in my opinion and so I decided to try to follow it up and now realise why no-one else bothers!!!

LOL - A friend suggested the same last night, apparently he'd been following me in his car on Sunday morning as I was showing him where the B&Q was in Eastleigh.

I wouldn't do that though as it's just not "right"...

Unfortunately it's only asking about response to 999 calls but I've posted a comment...

Yup ... I was sat in the queue the following day that that happened. I pass that footbridge each morning on my way in to work (I come home a different route).

This was one of the reasons I wanted to get the incident reported as I was of the understanding that the police were taking a serious view of objects being thrown onto motorways...

Well...by coincidence I was on the M3 going down from Winchester to S/Hampton, and I saw the entire incident from 2 cars back.....and got the plate number too..... oh look, you suddenely have a witness....

The police would never believe it ... all they'd need to do is take one look at your profile and with a list of cars like that they'd know that you'd never be behind anything!
