Sunday morning reading today;

"Up to date electronic ignition should be able to give an arc-welder spark, but there's more to performance than that. Platinum and iridium spark plug electrodes can substantially reduce misfiring in the demanding environment of modern engines because the smaller electrodes expose more mixture to the flame kernel. An unusually dramatic example of this is with supercharged [turbocharged] aftermarket engines running high boost. Such engines can falter terribly at high rpm and high boost due to ignition failure. Simply screwing in iridium-tipped sparkplugs typically eliminates the misfiring and allows the engine to rev to its peak power. A simple plug change can be good for 30 bhp because the new plugs allow the engine to reach its designed redline."

The C5 runs platinum plugs and the C6 will run iridium. Later LS1 and LS6 engines may already have iridium plugs.

More power!!
