Off to Bowling Green this Thursday to watch my C7 Z06 born!
Discussion
Well I had an awesome first day in Kentucky watching my car slowly grow. I will indeed be bringing it back to the UK when I return, at the moment it's scheduled for the end of next year. The factory tour is an amazing thing and the buyers tour is just the icing on the cake. Unfortunately cameras aren't allowed in there but Ive paid for the photo album. It will take a few weeks to arrive but I'l post some up then, though hopefully I'll be driving the car by then! Monday I'm back up to Kentucky to watch is continue down the assembly line and I will get to start it for the first time myself.
My car is an Arctic White 7 speed manual with Adrenalin Red interior (2LZ), black wheels, Z07 package (those carbon ceramic brakes are huge!!), Exposed Carbon fibre aero package, exposed carbon fibre roof top and carbon fibre dash.
It will look exactly like this..

Well I'm back in Bowling Green ready for the birth tomorrow! My tour starts again at 6.45am and the car should roll off the assembly line at around 1pm. I will post any pictures they email me (i think they do that in the next few days). I'll also post up some pictures of the album when it arrives. Cant wait to start it tomorrow.
Well it was an awesome second day.... seeing the engine and transmission mate with the body. Can't wait to get the album, though the waiting now to go back up to Bowling Green for the museum will be even harder!
The magazine reviews started coming out this week.... here's a written one on top gear and a video by MotorTrend:

Here's a couple of picture of my car that the museum sent me as I was driving home (in a very jealous Shelby GT500!)

Just like to say like others thank you so much for sharing your experiance with us all, simply awesome, and I wonder if this will be a keeper given the awwsome experiance you have shared together :-) top stuff
Hopefully it will be a keeper, at least thats the plan. As I went round the factory watching every stage of build I gathered a lot of info on the differences between a US car and an export (mines a US car as I can't drive an export while i live in the US). The builders were extremely helpful explaining the differences and even giving me bits of paper with the part numbers I need to change! It looks like the quality control hold is now up and the first museum delivery are being scheduled for Monday 8 December. Hopefully mine might sneak in that week if I'm lucky too...all I need to do now is pay for it

Why you are 'waiting' Mark why not 'blag' a few test rides in things like a 2015 Shelby Mustang and Challenger Hellcat just to while away the time and see what you're really NOT missing!
Well my current car is a 2013 Shelby GT500 so I've done the muscle car that doesn't like corners woof said:
I know it's a dirty word but once back in the UK what will be the total cost of purchase, transporting and UK Tax ?
I will have owned it for over 6 months so there is no tax. Transport is around £2k with insurance. Not sure how much I will need to get done for IVA on arrival. Car cost $102k, so all in it's going to be around the £60k mark or so. It really is a performance bargain for sure.woof said:
Interesting and a bargain for sure !
To own it for 6 months do you need to be a US resident or living there ?
Or can you buy it - store it for 6 months and then import it ?
( you can hear my mind ticking if you listen carefully ! )
I'm not an expert but here from the DVLA website; To own it for 6 months do you need to be a US resident or living there ?

If you’re moving to the UK
You don’t pay VAT or duty on a vehicle imported from outside the EU if you qualify for transfer of residence relief. To qualify you must meet all of these conditions:
you’re moving your normal home to the UK
your normal home was outside the EU for a continuous period of at least 12 months
you’ve owned and used the vehicle for at least 6 months outside the EU
you didn’t get the vehicle under a duty-free or tax-free scheme
you’re going to keep the vehicle for your personal use for at least 12 months
To get the tax relief, fill in form form C104A and give it to customs when you enter the country.

Loving the UK SPY tag and Union Jack surround
It does look good in white but I've got a Velocity Yellow A8 Z07 on order and patiently waiting for the build date (currently scheduled for mid-March) and then local FL dealer delivery.
Hoping to have the car in time to take it to the NCM Bash in April, are you going to the bash Helipilot?
Not sure yet... would be good though. I'm actually going to be travelling around FL in 2 weeks time. Taking my father (who lives in Venice) to the Daytona 500 and then I'm headed down to Key Largo for some scuba diving... it will certainly put a few more miles on the car!!It does look good in white but I've got a Velocity Yellow A8 Z07 on order and patiently waiting for the build date (currently scheduled for mid-March) and then local FL dealer delivery.
