1st time Aeroscreening
Discussion
So yesterday I finally got around to going out for a run with my Aeroscreen. Once I'd sorted out the fact I couldn't see over the damn thing - something a cushion greatly helped with - then a quick 10 min blat turned into a 40 miler.
It really is a different world! Acceleration is greater and the car just seems to flow so much better. It won't be often I have the screen back on (hopefully )

Yes I'm going to get a clear screen (and sell my RiF carbon one).
I'm also a shortie and have tillets AND lowered floors. When I first took the car out yesterday I only did a mile and turned around due to not being able to see over the screen (). Once home I dug out a cushion which was much better. I was concerned about hitting insects and what not, but over 40 miles I had no such issues.
@Framerate - it really adds another dimension. At UK motorway speeds, you can really feel the difference not just in acceleration but also in how little throttle (comparatively) is required to maintain speed.

Did you feel that you'd get any advantage from some half doors? I've been thinking of getting some for a while since I do trackdays with wind deflectors and no doors.
To be honest I'd had the same thought but can't really see what they'd do. Perhaps a touch less buffeting, but it would be marginal (nothing like the difference between screen on / no doors verses Aeroscreen). This evening the Mrs wanted to go out for a drive, but on the proviso that I put the screen and doors back on
Anyway, we're duly back from 50 miles of Cotswolds roads and it must be said, with or without screen the Caterham is a cracking car . However there's no doubting the performance increase by going Aero

Just got back from my first nighttime blat, only downer were the amount of bugs hitting my face and the sodding gravel that has recently been spread! Apart from that it was superb
I had my first aeroscreened nighttime blat last night too. Wow! If anyone thinks driving a Caterham is a thrill - and without doubt it is - then they will be positively shocked by driving one at night with an aeroscreen. The word 'involvement' doesn't do it justice!Yes I had to drill all the holes required, but it's not difficult. Just use decent metal drill bits and set the drill to a slow speed. Easy.
I popped out for fuel and did 80 miles in mine yesterday. Although at first I missed the sexy carbon aesthetic of the RiF screen, I now don't even think about it. There's 100% no way I'd go back and LOVE the clear screen, but then again I am only 5ft 9 with lowered floor and tillets.
