batterycut outs and ecu

A freind of mine has had recuring flat battery /non start with his K engined caterham ,if a battery cut out was fitted[simple turnkey ] would the engine management ecu need a perm feed or will it just wake up when the battery is connected ,Im old school and have had little to do with modern systems .please note this is an unmodded road car ,expensive demon thieves /race equipment isNOT requiredthanks in advance

Thanks gents both answer my question ,just got to convince him cos it don't say caterham on it that it will be fine
