Went to visit some friends, upon driving down their drive I hear a smack, ahhh, that'll be the sump on a tree stump them. bks. Oil pressure gauge drops, engine off, sounded okay when I turned it off. The apollo tank providing a buffer and now draining into a pool on their lawn!

The exhaust has shunted back and marked the not long re-paneled side skins, although it has settled back in it's original position.

I'm popping over tomorrow after work to tow it back up the drive, hopefully missing the stump this time, although I have shaved a chunk off it's height, to inspect. Where it's currently sat in grass, I couldn't see anything, but hopefully it's just the sump and can be welded, otherwise I have to start shipping things in from the UK and the time it's off the road (daily use) starts to add up.

I know I'll need to check the engine mounts and the engine mount brackets. How will the belts fair after an oily coating?

Sods law hey!

I hope for a sump weld up as a new Rover engine isn't that plentiful over here. Not one of the spares I packed!

I had heard about the engine brackets being redesigned due to fragility of one side. I've probably the old ones as I've not changed them since I've owned it - 2008.

Ahh, all is not lost. Well hopefully not all is lost.

First impressions say that luck was on my side. I should probably underline and put 'first' in bold before it comes to bite me. It looks like it is the brass fitting for the mechanical oil pressure gauge take off which has snapped. The male threaded section is still in the block, but hopefully an easy out will be easy to get it out... WAs a big thwack though, so I'll see.

What thread is this guys? Is the block an M12 x 1.5 or 1/8 BSP thread?
