I'm changing the diff oil and James Whiting has moved the oil fill point higher up the axle case when he built my car. It's now above the stiffening rib. Any idea how much oil I should put back in to suitably over fill it. I only ask as at donington it was spitting quite a bit of oil mist out of the breather.

Thanks for that. It does sound a lot and prem previous testing I've done of diff drag losses due to oil viscosity qty its sapping quite a bit of power. However if it keeps my diff alive so be it!

How much power sapped out of interest?
Sorry Bert Bert but it was when I worked in a drive train consultancy and I can't really say as our client would get upset. We did have a crown wheel in a large tank. torque transducers in the drive shaft and played with different oil levels and viscosities. I can say it would be worthwhile investigating using the lowest viscosity and fill level though if you're at the sharp end of the grid.

My car has the JW disk conversion on it and I've never had an issue with leaks when having around 3ltrs in it. With respect atf in axles, I'd have thought your bevel gears would have been happier with a more traditional hypoid gear oil.
