My 2009 CDX Road Sport with 1,6 k series equipped with Battery Master Switch and red starter button can not be switched off using the key, the engine is running on and the only way to stop it is switching the BMS.

The problem started last year (occasionally) but now it happens almost everytime, no matter if the motor is hot - cooling fan running - or it is cold and has been just started)

It seems that the only item to be switched off is the cooling fan (if in operation, it will switch off when turning off the key, while the engine keeps running).

So far I have tried :

1) Testing another MFRU borrowed from a friend : NO IMPROVEMENT
2) Eliminating the ignition barrel and using an aircraft style ignition switch : NO IMPROVEMENT

Any similar experience ?

Could be ECU ?
Alternator ?

Any suggestion is most welcome !

Hi Steve

The problem started last year but it was happening only occasionally.

By now more than 90% of the switching off has to be done with the BMS.

I did not add additional electric components, the only change was a new solenoid (Magneton) to fight against the well known click by hot start.

Thank you

Paolo

Hello Colin

I'm presently on vacation, no idea of the part number but I will check when back home.
Replacing the item has been definitely an improvement for me (no starting problems so far), but I can not say it is the only solution, as you know the click problem can be caused by different reasons, even a combination of several ones.
