Passed by Bill Shepherd's in Byfleet today and there was an US competition orange GT with the black 19s, just the same as my order. Guys! it looks stunning and I won't be changing my order. Photos just don't do it justice.

I popped in and told the guy there my story yet he was quite happy to leave me alone with another GT in black to have a good look around and be able to sit in it for a while.

Don't worry about the interior, it's brilliant and I have to say far superior than my last new car, a 987 Boxster back in 2005. A great place to sit and the standard seats are very supportive and comfortable. I'll not worry about the lack of Recaros now smile

OK the plastic that covers the transmission tunnel looks as good as the stuff in my E36 (I prefer the interior of my old 3 series to all the versions that have come since) but does not feel as quality if you tap it with your fingers but then how often are you going to do that.

Gear shift is positive and a very short sporty throw plus the clutch feels a lot lighter than my E36. Good thing as the arthritis in my left toe really plays up in stop/start traffic and I was wondering if I should go auto biggrin I have to get this old before finally being able to get a Muscle car.

Once again the camera does not do the colour justice and makes it look red.

Doors and boot close like a BMW, no clanging.

The aluminium across the dashboard does appear to be metal but I'm not sure about the toggle switches. They could be hard plastic painted silver.

With the driver's seat in a good position for me, you still get to see across the long bonnet which I like as I can't see the bonnet at all in my BMW, and it's a great bonnet to see with those ridges.

I'm 5'11.5" (Never quite made 6ft) and with the seat in a good position for me, I could sit in the back bucket but my neck was bent as my head was jammed against the roof frown

The only regular passengers would be my 3 kids but as one of them at only 12 years old is already 5'9" that doesn't bode well for using the Mustang as my only car. Looks like my Beemer, with me for 17 years already, will be staying.

Thanks to Bill Shepherd's guy for letting me look and good to know that they will be happy to service my Mustang when I get it. Rather let someone who lives and breaths the marque to look after my car rather than the YTS boy that normally twirls his spanners on a Ford Fiesta.

He did try to convince me not to wait and that the only true Mustang is a LHD one.

LHD doesn't bother me, I've been driving a Grand Marquis as a daily for the past year, but the fact that they want £10k more than the UK one puts me off.

The smell of the leather is still clinging to me as I write this biggrin
