Reduced Power Output for Rhd Mustangs
Discussion
As has been said 5 BHP is neither here or there......but if I'm honest, I'm more concerned that they've only just realised that either the RHD steering column, didn't fit with the exhaust manifold, or the exhaust manifold was in the way of the new RHD Steering......
In this age of computer design etc, I would have thought all this would have been established ages ago....
It does make me wonder what else will have to be "tweeked" to get the RHD bit to work
Let's hope they've realised we need pedals on the RHS as well as a steering wheel

My worry is whether the Borla after market exhaust will fit to the new manifold
I can't believe the manifold will be any different where it meets the big resonator in the middle, so should be fine....If it isn't, I have a grinder and a welder, and I know how to use em

At least they've been upfront about it.
Yep...can't knock em for thatThe other thing of note, is the "12 weeks" delivery from leaving the plant..... 3 months seems a bit ott once the ship is on the water..
I'm hoping this is worst case scenario and things will improve, once things get moving.
I can remember years ago when there was a "gentlemans" agreement that bikes would be restricted to 125 BHP.
I had a ZZR1100 at the time (1991). And apparently in the USA they were a full fat 140 BHP....
I just had to have the full power, so at great expense I ordered new carb tops to replace the Euro versions which had a spacer in the top, to restrict the full travel of the slider and restrict the power...
I fitted my new unrestricted tops, and with much excitement went for a blast....... Result hardly noticeable.
I got far more value from bragging rights in the pub, that my ZZR was a full power version

No, not gloating at all. I scratched the Mustang itch a few years ago when I had a Rousch. I hope it lives up to your expectations.
I've never really 'got' why people clamoured & waited for a European model. It was always going to be a watered-down version of the US model. There are enough importer/dealers out there who will source, warrant & IVA whatever you want, and generally no waiting times either.

Then you'll be consigned to lesser (IMO) Euro models if you want a US car. Your loss...
I don't see it as a lesser model.......it's still a 400+ BHP RWD coupe with lots of presence for well under £40k....The only loss if there wasn't a RHD version would be Fords, as I suspect many folk like me would have spent their cash on something else
I can't believe some folk are getting so wound up about 5 BHP on a car with over 400 of em
I only started this thread as I was so excited at getting a letter from Ford... (It means they know I exist)
Can't wait to get my new car
Just look at the thing

Nice car, but it's the wrong colour.
Wrong colour
Wrong interior
And
Wrong gearbox according to some....
But guess what......I ordered exactly what I wanted
And it's going to be brilliant
Just had an email from the USA......Borla has been despatched Oh I ordered the wrong one of those too apparently

Quinny where did you order from and how much was it delivered? Im looking into ordering a Borla at the moment but so far Borla themselves have been fairly unhelpful.
Which one did you go for?
Ordered the cat back touring system with black tips....Which one did you go for?
From Levittown Ford Super Centre New York
I contacted Benny in the parts Dept by email..... Told him what I wanted, and he mailed me a price including shipping by FedEx to the UK.
Price was just under $1400, but obviously I'll get clobbered for VAT on top of this......but still a substantial saving over the UK suppliers

Sounds epic without being too load.
That was my reasoning also....I've had loud, and I've had really loud....great fun for a while, but on both occasions I ended up getting it modded to quieten it down.....this time I decided I'd be sensible from the start and get something to pep up the standard noise level, but without going OTT..foliedouce said:
