I have a 2017 Mustang in order, due c.April 2017.

I have started to see reports that at the Detroit show in Jan 2017 Ford will reveal the updated current model with a 10speed box, 5.2V8 and tweaked styling to come out early 2018.

Worth cancelling my ordering and redirecting the deposit to the 2018 model?

No. The 2021 model will be far better. Wait for that. Although I had heard the 2025 model will be even better.

Point is, where do you stop?

I take it 2018 is the US release, in which case how long do you think it will be before it makes it over here in RHD? IF it makes it over here in RHD...
It's a fair point I've asked myself.

My thinking is that by the time mine turns up it will have been 14 mths of waiting - kind of got used to that!

If they reveal in next 3 mths I could redirect and then just wait another 12-14 months. I'm actually not in a massive rush and strangely enjoying the wait.

I'd also be at the front of the queue for the new model.

I wouldn't keep waiting as if I went for the 2018 model it would be current when I got it - I just fear a sense that by the time I get mine it's already (nearly) the outgoing model.

It's likely I'll take my order as they aren't depreciating yet over here in Oz but the thought of the new box, upgraded interior and potentially newer engine is inviting.

I don't think it'll be the GT350 engine but rather an altered version of the 5.0 with a bit more power.

Thanks for the input chaps.

Something to ponder.

Will keenly watch the next few months and see what arises. I don't mind waiting tbh. It's my first and only new car I'll ever get so keen to get the current and latest thing to enjoy but the realities of life are that depreciation is important

Good info there - sounds bloody good and yes, tempted to wait tbh.

One of the issues might be a price rise over the current version.

Here in oz mine is coming in at $68k on the road which is great value but if it pushes up to near $90k then it's game over, not worth it.

The $aud is very sensitive to the us$ and prices change a lot - Jeep and Chrysler did this with their SRT versions pushing theirs up $15k and decimating sales overnight.
