So with Steam now available for Linux, and a bit of a sale on, I ventured a couple of quid on FTL.

Ever wanted to play Captain Kirk/Picard/Jainway/whatever....

It's a laugh, I'm not very good at it, and it's worth a couple of quid if you fancy something a bit different.

She canny take any more captn'.

Got this for the PC, my god it's hard, on my first go I got boarded and killed on the first in sector jump.
I've played about 5 times and not got beyond the 2nd FTL jump.
Are you playing it on easy? I made it to the final level on my second ever attempt (on easy), and it looks like I'm probably going to take on the big boss again with this play through (still on easy).

How do you deal with boarders? If there is one I can just gang up on them but if they group up I can do nothing.
Traditionally, kick them in the head.
If you're a bit weedy, hide in the medical room and wait for them; then your are healed while having a rumble.

If you're sneaky, upgrade to blast doors and vent the atmosphere. Suffocate the boarders.

Beaten on easy using the engi ship.

All shields, ion blasters to strip shields and disable systems (keep hammering their weapons and shields and they're usually sitting ducks). A pair of attack drones did the offensive damage.

Boarders were a problem, and I invested in a teleporter late on to try to return the favour.
Got lucky very late in the game and acquired a very nasty missile launcher that did significant hull damage. Even so, the final fight was a close run thing. I actually though I was done for, and was working so hard on fixing holes and keeping essential systems (weapons, shields and drone control) running that the enemy ship blowing up came as a bit of a shock.

Now trying it on "normal" and it's very, very unforgiving indeed.
