12 minutes of gameplay footage will be put on IGN at 8PM BST.

Praise the Sun!

Don't mess with the mushroom people.

A bit worrying that they were talking about making it more accessible and Miyazaki (sp?) isn't working on it... I have hope though, they had better not mess this up!

Hopefully it will still be tough as nails, but doable if you try. Going back to it and starting again last year (when I finished it) was a joy.
The DLC is brilliant. It has the best boss in the game in it.

Do the main game, before you fight Sif, do the DLC and beat Artorias. Then go and visit Sif. Brilliant. The small changes make such a difference to what was already an awesome boss fight.

They also said in the Q&A that they want a sense of satisfaction for overcoming difficulties. That the game won't be more accessible but more clear.

They also said they were sticking with the Dark Souls method of storytelling, which is brilliant news. Dark Souls had a very deep lore behind it, it just wasn't spoon fed to you.

Here's the video

The way your health bar gets smaller every time you die is a major pain in the arse
Demon Souls worked like this, I like it. I'm not very far in, but you could pretty much beat Dark Souls without getting hit, I'm guessing Dark Souls 2 is the same. If I keep dying a lot I'm doing something wrong.

the enemies in the game stop respawning too.
Again, I'm not very far in. Do all enemies stop respawning or just the mini boss type enemies. This is how Dark Souls worked too, certain enemies in the game were 1 time enemies and once you killed them they never respawned (certain dark knights, the armoured boars, the kite dragon etc)

On top of that, the environments, while pretty, lack the character of those from Dark Souls, the grahpics are nice but in a way less charming. Everything looks faster and smoother, but not necessarily better. The game world is not as exciting or inventive as that from Dark Souls either, there is less of a vertical stacking of areas, it's just a flat plane like a traditional RPG, and there is feeling of a feeling of wonder and discovery to the exploration.
I agree from what I've seen so far, the lighting is crap and the environments do look flat and washed out. That was the first thing that struck me about the game was how ugly it was.

It feels sort of like a Dark Souls game, but one that was made by different people who didn't really understand what made the first one so amazing. I'm hoping it will improve and build steam as it goes on, but so far, I am disappoint.
I am too, a little, the opening to Dark Souls and Demon Souls was amazing. This isn't grabbing me the way those games did. I'm confident it will improve.

The plot is tied up in the objects you will find, if you want to know the plot expect to do stuff like pick up a ring and read the ring description in your inventory. You are expected to piece it all together yourself and work out how everything is connected. Very little of the plot is actually handed to you and even if you do work out what is going on a lot of it is left up to your interpretation as well, this is right down to whether or not a character is good or evil, or even if you are good or evil.

I haven't tried a Soul Level 1 run in DS2 yet, but did in DS1. You absolutely don't have to level up.

The game can be beat at SL1, using only the equipment you start with (with no upgrades). My DS1 SL1 run I allowed myself to upgrade my gear (albeit the equipment you start with) but I've seen it beat naked with a non-upgraded axe.
